Stud Dogs and Breeding
We are more than willing to help anyone with advice from even before you mate your girl.
We do NOT use nor agree with the use of these mating stands we feel they are cruel and have no room in society for a device that HOLDS DOWN a dog,a bitch that is ready will NOT need these devices,gentle handling and a patient handler is all that is needed.
We handle our own stud dogs and regardless of how much time your girl needs to be mated we never rush her and allow her to get to know us and settle before anything goes ahead.We do not allow our dogs to mate any other breed other than another bulldog. We use the finest breeding in the country and we respect their wishes to as they have allowed us the honour of using their dogs.
Our dogs are our pets first and foremost,they live in the house with us and our other dogs,they rough and tumble,get under my feet,they share the odd snack with us too.
Please dont think that we are going to waste your time our whole aim is to get your girl into pup,help with advice if you or the pups need the help and pass on any enquiries with have on to you so your pups are placed into the home you know they deserve.
Lament of a Stud Dog
My job is making puppies, and I get two tries at that.
They pat me on the head and say ‘good boy’ – and that, is that.
Its half my job to give ‘em teeth and top lines, fronts and other,
Remember it’s only half my job, they also have a mother.
It’s NOT my job to carry pups and make ‘em grow and nurse ‘em,
And feed and clean and make ‘em strong, that’s for the Mother
And her person.
It’s Not my job to wean - and feed the calcium and food,
And stack and gait and housebreak, and make ‘em showing brood.
It’s NOT my job, to plan the breeding and learn what produces well,
To study pedigrees, learn what’s there and pick out what to sell.
It’s NOT my job to guarantee champs, - the breeder picks the pair.
To mate, and whelp, and feed, and show, and HOPE the champ is there.
It’s NOT my job to be on hand, when points are given out,
The breeder, owner, Dam and friends take credit, with a shout.
It’s NOT my job to deliver a win, it’s only genes I sell.
But, - let the puppies turn out BAD, and guess who catches HELL!!
IS BREEDING FOR YOU?
Breeding bulldogs is not for the faint hearted,its hard work,very expensive and above all it totally disrupt's your life,kiss goodbye to your bed for at least 4 weeks.
A bulldog bitch will not be a better pet for being mated,children dont need to learn the facts of life or watch puppies,it can be upsetting enough for adults if the bitch or pups die let alone children.
You will need a lot of expensive stuff to breed and raise puppies,you will need a very understanding vet,you must be prepared to put your life on hold,no going out,no visitors as your going to be to tired to be entertaining,your dog doesnt need the hussle and bussle of visitors or the risk of infection that they may bring in.
You need to be prepared that the puppies may not find homes and can you house,clean feed puppies till the right home comes along.Can you take a puppy or older dog back that maybe the owner can no longer keep or want?.
If you decide you can cope with it all and it can be wonderful and the joy of puppies is lovely then please find the best dog you possibly can,even if it means driving for hours,covering motorways for miles,the end result is worth it if you put the effort in.
New owners are now searching long and hard for their next puppy and with the internet being a good source of info they are looking for the best they can get (and rightly so) so can be very picky, get it right now,put the effort in for your sake the pups sake and the new owners sakes.
